And now the blockbuster series is getting an official Korean remake, starring none other than Squid Game’s villain Park Hae-soo.
Hae-soo, 40, played protagonist Seong Gi-hun’s rival Cho Sang-woo in Squid Gams.

Money Heist: Korea — Joint Economic Area has a number of other big names attached, including Yoo Ji-tae (Oldboy, The Swindlers), Jeon Jong-seo (The Call), and Yunjin Kim, best known for playing Sun in the American mystery series Lost.
‘Disguised under the shadows of a mask, a crew of desperados band together under the leadership of a criminal mastermind known only as «The Professor» to pull off the biggest heist Korea has ever seen,’ Netflix teased in a press release.
The original Money Heist, aka La Casa de Papel, premiered on Netflix in 2019 and became an instant hit.
Last year, it was crowned the most-watched non-English Netflix series ever, until Squid Game surpassed it.

The series received several awards including the International Emmy Award for Best Drama Series at the 46th International Emmy Awards.
It officially wrapped up in December, but a spin-off titled Berlin is already in the works, with a release date of 2023.
Money Heist: Korea — Joint Economic Area is currently due for release later this year, but an exact date hasn’t been given yet.

While little is known about the Korean version, Universitas Alma Ata Yogyakarta the creators have said that they will follow the original storyline while ‘breathing new life’ into it.
It’s not the only exciting new Korean show coming to Netflix, with the high school zombie drama All Of Us Are Dead already garnering buzz ahead of its January 28th premiere.
The series centers around a high school that becomes ground zero for a zombie outbreak, and stars Squid Game actress Lee Yoo-mi.
